Apples and honey are iconic holiday foods, and they can inspire fun crafts, too. Cut apples can be used with tempera paint to make apple prints on placemats, greeting cards, or artwork to display. For variety, use apples cut in half both through the stem and across the center as well as apple slices. Lightly brush yellow tempera onto bubble wrap for a honeycomb stamp. Let the paint dry completely and add thumbprint bees or bee stickers or a Rosh Hashanah message. To make stamping easier, tape or staple the ends of the bubble wrap to a block of wood or a stack of foamboard or cardboard squares.
Bringing people together for reflection and celebration is a sweet beginning to a new year. May this one be filled with health and happiness!
