Let the door be open wide
And no blind be down at all,
For maybe she'd be walking
With the child within her shawl;
And how could we be bearing
The weight of shame and sin,
If she'd pass upon the roadway
With no light to guide her in?
Let the chair be readied now,
And the fire kept burning bright;
For sorely she'll be needing
The rest and warmth this night.
The rushes too be spreading
Upon the earthen floor,
To make it sweet and wholesome
Her blessed feet before.

It's Christmas in the air!
Snowflakes in December
Children site with Santa's toys
Their gloves wiping crystalline ice,
Off shiny plastic
Our breath thick like fog
Mingles in oneness
As we stand back to
Look upon the completion
Of our Christmas trees
Giggling from heady wine
And feelings shared
It's Christmas in the air!

Snowflakes fly around the sled,
Some teddy bears love adventure on their sleds.
Daddy Bear holds the ropes to guide his flight,
Mama and baby bear sit together tight,
Laughter rings out when they curve over the hills,
Teddy bear sleigh rides are a winter thrill.
Scarfs of red and green plaid surround their furry necks,
Hoods of fur are keeping the winter air outside.
Riding in the sleigh makes a fun day,
That's the teddy bear way.

There was seen a radiance
Glowing one night
Near the little maiden Mary
In blue and white.
"Lilies are not fairer,
"Roses more red,
Than the Child she sings to slumber,"
An angel said.
So the shepherds ventured
Through the white cold,
And their eyes beheld the infant
An hour old.
Long they gazed and wondered,
Awkward in awe,
At the paramount perfection
Within their straw.
"Diamonds are but trifles!
"Rubies no gem!"
Cried the hearts that slaved for pittance
Near Bethlehem.
So it was forever,
After the night
When the little maiden Mary
Wore blue and white.

Mothers mean much more on Christmas day,
Even though they're loved the whole year round.
Rich memories lie knee-deep on the ground,
Recalling years when gifts unopened lay,
Years of Christmases near wild with play,
Christmases of dreams unwrapped and crowned,
Happiness with wings and joy unbound,
Reveling in myths time would betray.
In you there lies the spirit of pure giving,
Sweetness that finds pleasure in my smile,
The gift I can reopen every year.
More than my own, I find your heart forgiving,
A home where I am welcome all the while,
So I can rest assured, for you are near.
